Case study: Fiscal translation

210 pages of fiscal documents from French into Dutch in ten days

The client:

One of the largest law and civil-law notary law firms in the Netherlands.

The assignment:

Translation of 210 pages (113,000 words) of specialist fiscal, financial and legal texts from French into Dutch.

The challenge:

The client sent the assignment on Thursday and wanted it done maximum 10 days later. The source documents were scanned PDFs, part of which were poor quality. As a result, translation software was barely able to speed up the work.

Our solution:

Our project manager divided the source text into different specialist fields. Most of the documents were financial/fiscal, while some were legal. We then compiled a team of translators based on the needs of the project and set them to work straight away, each working on documents in their own particular specialist field. A single proofreader checked the translators’ work in order to maximise consistency of style and terminology. Within ten calendar days, the completed assignment was delivered to the client.
